10/19/2017

Picture
What does a Neighborhood Watch do?

A Neighborhood Watch is neighbors helping neighbors. They are extra eyes and ears for reporting crime and helping each other.

What are my responsibilities as a Watch Member?
  • Be alert!
  • Know your neighbors and watch out for each other.
  • Report crimes and suspicious activities to the Police.

What kind of activities should I be aware of?
  • Someone screaming or shouting for help.
  • Someone looking in windows of houses or parked cars.
  • Property being taken out of houses when no one is at home or from closed businesses.
  • Vehicles moving slowly for no apparent reason.
  • Anyone being forced into a vehicle. Strangers sitting in a car or stopping to talk to a child.

What are the major components of a Watch Program?
  • Meetings - Set up on a regular basis.
  • Communications - Can be as simple as a flyer posted on community bulletin boards.
  • Special Events - These are crucial to keep the program going and growing. Host a talk on current issues. Adopt a park or playground. Sponsor a block

When you get involved in a Neighbourhood Watch program, you can learn:
  • how to make your home less inviting as a target for thieves
  • how to mark your valuables so that they can be recovered in case of theft
  • how to be alert to suspicious activity in your neighbourhood
  • how to respond appropriately to potential threats

There will be a public meeting concerning a Neighbourhood Watch program in Hazeldell on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30pm.  Please attend to learn more.

2017 Summer Playground Program

6/7/2017

July 4 - August 18, 2017

Every summer, children 6 to 12 years of age are invited to take part in a fun-filled summer of FREE activities at 10 different playground locations throughout the City. Each playground is staffed by two qualified and trained playground supervisors.

The summer’s seven-week playground program includes cooperative games, crafts, songs, stories, sports and much more. Activities focus on a different theme every week, and special events are also planned "off the playgrounds" for all kids to enjoy.

The program also offers free of charge a summer sports program, an arts program and a cultural program. Specialized playleaders travel from playground to playground offering the children different sporting and craft activities.

The hours of operation for the playground programs are as follows:
Monday to Thursday 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m.
Friday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Every year, the City of Prince Albert Playground Program receives a large quantity of recyclables which are used for arts and craft projects on the playgrounds over the summer.  Your continued help in donating the following clean recycled items (and other great odds and ends) are greatly appreciated.

However, we ask that you be selective; please don't clean out your basement!
  • Paper towel rolls
  • Buttons/beads/string
  • Scraps of fabric
  • Plastic containers
  • Plastic 4-litre containers (washed/rinsed)
  • Wrapping paper
  • Egg Cartons

Please deliver items to:
Margo Fournier Centre
1211 - 1st Avenue West
Prince Albert.

Donations are accepted from March 1st to June 30th each year.
Questions about the program please call: 306-953-4816
